Why Masters Rigging Is Different
Shorter effective reach, different strength-to-weight ratios, and frequently less flexibility than collegiate athletes mean the standard "collegiate rig card" needs adjustment.
Seat Heights
Add 1–2cm vs. a standard collegiate setup to reduce hip-flexor load at the catch and open up the body angle range.
Span
Sweep: 85–86cm. Sculling: 159–160cm. Slightly wider than collegiate spec reduces load at the catch while preserving finish acceleration.
Oar Length & Inboard
Sweep: 375cm with 115cm inboard. Sculling: 288cm with 88cm inboard. Small changes here have big impact — prioritize inboard first, then overall length.
