One number everyone can compare.
Speed Order is Flowbase's rating for erg results. It puts every age, weight and test distance on one scale, while your raw result is always shown next to it.
Raw, handicapped and Speed Order.
Your actual time from the monitor. Never changed, always shown.
Your raw time multiplied by your cell’s factor, so a 60-year-old lightweight and a 20-year-old heavyweight can race on one board. Every athlete sits in one of 48 cells: category, weight class and age band.
A rating built from your ranked results over time. It rises when you beat athletes rated above you and moves less when you beat those below, like a chess rating.
Example numbers for illustration.
Relative performance, tuned for the water.
Speed Order is a relative rating: where you stand against everyone else, not a speed in itself. It’s weighted toward what an erg test is for, predicting a rower’s contribution on the water. It is not a guarantee of how fast you’ll go on race day.
You get an overall Speed Order against everyone, and one within your own age, weight and category.
2K, 5K and 6K pieces. Other distances count toward meters and consistency, not the rating. RowErg and BikeErg have separate boards.
PM5 pieces synced from Concept2, logbook entries, and monitor photos once they're checked. Typed results with no photo don't rank.
Within your team, across your club, nationally and internationally.
Speed Order is Flowbase's own rating engine.
