§ 01 THE STORY

The Story

COMPOSITE PORTRAIT

The TuneIn Score is designed to be the most accessible score in the system — the one that makes immediate intuitive sense to any athlete, regardless of age or psychological sophistication. Are you tuned in to what your body is feeling? Are you tuned in to what your crew is experiencing? Are you tuned in to what the race situation demands? Three simple questions that map to complex psychological capacities. For youth athletes, the TuneIn Score is often the first assessment they encounter. Its language is deliberately simple: “I can tell when my crewmate is struggling even if they don’t say anything.” “I notice when my body is telling me to back off before my coach tells me.” This accessibility makes it the gateway to the broader EPAB battery.

This is a composite portrait. The story reflects patterns documented across many athletes. No individual is depicted.

§ 02 WHAT THE RESEARCH TELLS US

What the Research Tells Us

TuneIn Score: How Tuned In Are You? The TuneIn Score measures emotional attunement and awareness — how tuned in you are to yourself, your crew, and the competitive environment. The simplest and most intuitive entry point to the emotional intelligence system. Noah Wickliffe, M.S. · Founder, MyoSport Inc. · 8 min read

Research on interoception — the ability to sense internal body states — shows it is a trainable skill that predicts emotional regulation, decision-making, and athletic performance. Craig (2009) demonstrated that interoceptive accuracy correlates with emotional awareness and self-regulation capacity. For athletes, being “tuned in” to subtle body signals — fatigue onset, arousal shifts, pain thresholds — enables better pacing, more accurate self- assessment, and earlier injury detection. For crews, Filho et al. (2015) showed that team emotional awareness — the collective capacity to read each other’s states — predicted team cohesion and performance above individual skill levels. The TuneIn Score measures both individual attunement and crew-reading capacity. “Being tuned in is not a vague concept. It is a measurable capacity with direct performance consequences. The TuneIn Score measures it in language every athlete understands — from fourteen-year-old juniors to fifty-year-old masters.” — Noah Wickliffe, M.S., Flowbase Assessment Series 32 Items in simple, accessible language 4 Attunement domains Gateway Entry point to full EPAB battery

§ 03 HOW THE AI COACH USES THIS SCORE

How the AI Coach Uses This Score

THE STRATEGIC ADVANTAGE

The TuneIn Score meets athletes where they are — with accessible language that opens the door to the most sophisticated emotional intelligence system in sport. The AI Coach walks them through that door at whatever pace they are ready for.

The AI Coach uses the TuneIn Score as the entry point for emotional skill development — starting with the domains where the athlete shows the most natural capacity and building outward. For youth athletes, the TuneIn Score provides the first data point in what becomes a multi-year emotional development trajectory. As athletes mature, the AI transitions them from TuneIn to the full EIS-32, EmPath, or Pulse Score for deeper assessment. The TuneIn Score meets athletes where they are — with accessible language that opens the door to the most sophisticated emotional intelligence system in sport. The AI Coach walks them through that door at whatever pace they are ready for. Know Yourself. Row Better.
