Ideal regatta snacks combine carbohydrate for energy with moderate protein for satiety and small amounts of sodium for hydration: trail mix with dried fruit, PB&J sandwich halves, rice cakes with nut butter, banana with string cheese, or granola bars with at least 5 g protein. Avoid high-fat foods (slow digestion), excessive fiber (GI distress), and unfamiliar foods (never test on race day). Hydration between races is equally important. Athletes should consume 400–600 mL of fluid per hour between events, with electrolyte-containing beverages preferred over plain water during hot-weather regattas.
